VimalaVideo is a historical dharma video archive established by the Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche in 1980. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, staffed entirely by volunteers and supported by the dharma community we serve. The proceeds of all of our sales and donations go solely to support the ongoing activities of the video archive.
Our mission is to contribute to the recording, preservation, and dissemination of vajrayana buddhist practices and teachings as they are transmitted in the West. We offer a collection of video media encompassing both introductory and advanced teachings and practices, primarily from the Nyingma lineage of the Tibetan tradition of vajrayana buddhism. At the heart of our mission is the commitment to provide instructional and historical video media to vajryayana students and practitioners in support of their studies and practice. Since our inception, a small group of dedicated students of the Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche, at his request and with his guidance, have accomplished the activity of capturing video footage of many and various events held at or hosted by the Pacific Region Yeshe Nyingpo dharma centers primarily on the West Coast of the United States, as well as events at other dharma centers in the U.S. and Asia. Such events recorded include teachings, rituals, empowerments, visits of spiritual dignitaries, construction activities (e.g., construction of Buddhist monuments, statues, and temples), and other cultural and spiritual events. The collection of video media we offer represents but a small portion of the hundreds of hours of video footage we have captured over the last 35 years. We have been active in recording many events over the years, but due to limited funding and limited human resources we have been unable to edit the bulk of it. As well, much of our footage is approaching the end of its lifespan and is in danger of being lost due to the natural degradation of the medium. To preserve this rare footage and to edit and produce new material we welcome donations of any amount to help fund our activities.
